Students: it’s possible that Mrs. Sparhawk took grades on the D.O.L. (grammar assignment) today. Please ask her if she did. If so, it’s now possible to download a D.O.L. makeup sheet right here on Clipboards. Just click on the “Assignments” button at the top and download one of the D.O.L. makeup assignments. (Or you can just get one from the makeup work center at school.)
Today Mrs. Sparhawk handed out a new vocabulary list on public speaking terms. If you were absent, the vocabulary sheet is in the Tuesday box; your definitions are right here on Clipboards, under the “Vocabulary Lists” heading at the top of this page. Parents, please watch for that. Students need to bring it home with them and study for the upcoming vocabulary test, which will be given on Friday, January 13, 2012.
During class today, we copied down notes on public speaking. If you were absent today, please set an official appointment to come in at lunch or after school to go through the Powerpoint presentation and copy down those notes on giving speeches. It answers questions like:
- What makes a speech really good?
- How do I make sure I look believable on the stage?
- What can I do to prepare for public speaking
What will we use these notes for? Remember the essays we revised right before Christmas? Well you’ll be memorizing that essay and giving a speech on it next week. That’s how we’ll publish our writing this time: through public speaking.
