Students: it’s possible that Mrs. Sparhawk took grades on the D.O.L. (grammar assignment) today. Please ask her if she did. If so, it’s now possible to download a D.O.L. makeup sheet right here on Clipboards. Just click on the “Assignments” button at the top and download one of the D.O.L. makeup assignments. (Or you can just get one from the makeup work center at school.)
Parents: we were given a new vocabulary list this week. Please watch for that. Students need to bring it home with them and study for the upcoming vocabulary test, which will be given on Friday, February 3, 2012. If you were gone when we copied down our definitions, they’re available right here on Clipboards. Just click the “Vocabulary” page at the top.
Students: during class today we scored one another’s “story swap” assignments. Extra copies of the story swap assignment can be found in the Thursday box. You’ve got to have a story written, in order to participate in the scoring of these. Each day of scoring is worth ten easy points for participation.
Parents: the whole point of participating in scoring stories is to help students understand the six traits of good writing. This concept is part of the state standards. It helps students think about the following concepts as they write:
- ideas and content
- sentence fluency
- word choice
