Students: it’s possible that Mrs. Sparhawk took grades on the D.O.L. (grammar assignment) today. Please ask her if she did. If so, it’s now possible to download a D.O.L. makeup sheet right here on Clipboards. Just click on the “Assignments” button at the top and download one of the D.O.L. makeup assignments. (Or you can just get one from the makeup work center at school.)

On Tuesday, Mrs. Sparhawk handed out a new vocabulary list. This one’s a whopper! It’s got fifty words, but no definitions. Instead, the students need to copy their own definitions from the dictionary. When we’re all done, it will be worth a whoppin’ 25 points–which is like two D.O.L. assignments–so make sure you get yours done. Extra copies of this vocabulary list can be found in the Tuesday box.

Parents: This vocabulary list is a compilation of words that may appear on the ISAT test. So it’s very important that students get this list of words defined, as it will help their test scores.

Parents: Remember that many students will be re-tested over the folklore vocabulary list this Friday (tomorrow). There’s a copy of last week’s test on the back page of this week’s vocabulary list. You might ask your child for that test (it looks like a crossword puzzle), and take the time to go over it with them tonight. Maybe they can even take that test at home tonight, as a sort of pre-test.

If tomorrow’s re-test score is higher than last Friday’s original test, Mrs. Sparhawk will take the higher of the two scores for her gradebook records. Be advised that I recently handed out a hard-copy of the students’ grades as well, so they will have an opportunity to turn in makeup work and extra credit this week, as needed.
