Students: it’s possible that Mrs. Sparhawk took grades on the D.O.L. (grammar assignment) today. Please ask her if she did. If so, it’s now possible to download a D.O.L. makeup sheet right here on Clipboards. Just click on the “Assignments” button at the top and download one of the D.O.L. makeup assignments. (Or you can just get one from the makeup work center at school.)

Parents: we were given a new vocabulary list today. Please encourage students to bring home their vocabulary list to study! But remember, if they forget their list, you can look right here on Clipboards for those definitions. Just click on the page entitled “Vocabulary Lists” at the top. And here’s a copy of the vocabulary worksheet: Writing Vocabulary List 3 lined copy . (Students, you can find one in the Tuesday box, if you’re at school.)

Today’s lesson went like this:

  1. Everyone who had a finished first draft (of the folklore essay) was given ten points, as long as their outline was done too and the essay had five indented paragraphs.
  2. Everyone who was finished with their essay started peer editing (checking each other’s papers for mistakes). For peer editing, I use the following Powerpoint slide show to guide the students, so they know what to look for:
