Today’s word card was buccaneer. On your Vocabulary Word Cards worksheet, you’ll need to fill out the syllable breaks, definition, part of speech, and sentence portion of your word card, but you are welcome to copy today’s drawing from one of your classmates’ word card worksheets.

We continued reading Treasure Island today. If you need time to catch up on the reading you missed, there’s usually time for that on Mondays when we go to the library as a class. To earn the reading sticker that you missed, just read your library book at home for 30 minutes tonight and have your parent sign your agenda saying that you did so. Then show your agenda to Mrs. Webmaster, and she’ll give you the reading participation sticker that you missed. Thanks!

Today’s journal writing prompt was Do you think Robert Louis Stevenson was prejudiced against handicapped people? Use examples from the book to prove or disprove the possibility that he was prejudiced. Remember, you need to copy the whole writing prompt onto your reading log, along with your response to it. And your response to the question needs to fill all the lines provided on the journal sheet for today’s entry. Don’t forget to include the date, pages, and vocabulary words. Each part is important to your grade.
