Patriot's Pen Essay Contest veterans of foreign wars

It’s possible that Mrs. Webmaster took grades on the D.O.L. today. Please ask her if she did. If so, you need to go to a box in the make-up work center that says “extra D.O.L.” and get a worksheet from this box. You can take this home and do it as homework, but don’t forget to turn it in when you return to school tomorrow. If you’re reading this at home, you can download and print a D.O.L. from the Assignments page, as long as you haven’t already done those D.O.L. sentences.

Our spelling/vocabulary test will be given this Friday. Be sure to study these words and their definitions in preparation for the test. You can find them here, if you forgot to bring them home.

Everyone who had their first draft of the “Patriot’s Pen” essay done today was allowed to participate in editing practice. If you were absent, you still need to find someone to edit your paper (using a second color), very much like we do with the D.O.L. every day. Make sure you have at least ten proofreading symbols on your first draft (in a second color)! Ten proofreading symbols = ten points!

If you’re a super-good writer, and your classmates can’t find any errors, set an official appointment to come in at lunch or after school to have Mrs. Fogelsong edit your essay for you. Ten proofreading symbols are required.
