Today’s word card was squire. On your Vocabulary Word Cards worksheet, you’ll need to fill out the syllable breaks, definition, part of speech, and sentence portion of your word card, but you are welcome to copy today’s drawing from one of your classmates’ word card worksheets (or just hand-draw the image of a squire that’s pictured here).

We continued reading Treasure Island today. If you need time to catch up on the reading you missed, there’s usually time for that on Mondays when we go to the library as a class. To earn the reading sticker that you missed, just read a library book at home for 30 minutes tonight and have your parent sign your agenda saying that you did so. Then show your agenda to Mrs. Webmaster, and she’ll give you the reading participation sticker that you missed. Thanks!

Today’s journal writing prompt was Predict who the two most important characters will be and explain your hypothesis. Remember, you need to copy the whole writing prompt onto your reading log, along with your response to it. And your response to the question needs to fill all the lines provided on the journal sheet for today’s entry. Don’t forget to include the date, pages, and vocabulary words. Each part is important to your grade.

Ask Mrs. Webmaster if she collected word cards, journals, or sticker sheets today. If she did collect one or more of these, please try to get yours turned in without delay.  Remember, make-up work goes in Mrs. Webmaster’s HAND, not on her desk!
