Today we copied our assignments into our agendas. If you were gone today, please take the time to copy this week’s assignments into your agenda as well.

Our assignment, today, was to create five thesis statements on our assigned research topics. If you don’t know what a thesis statement is, please google “Thesis Statement Careers YouTube” and look for a video about career-related thesis statements. (You can only do this from home, as we don’t have access to it at school.) If you find a YouTube video on career-related thesis statements, created by Chelly Wood, that’s the one I’m suggesting you look at. It should help a lot.

We met in the computer lab, today, to begin our Wikipedia research. If you need to catch up on Wikipedia research, there are a number of ways you can do this:

  • Access Wikipedia from home
  • Set an appointment to come in at lunch
  • Sign up for the Advisory study hall on Thursday and Friday
  • Do some research during Boys and Girls Club

It’s possible that your teacher took grades on the D.O.L. today. Please ask her if she did. If so, you need to get a D.O.L. make-up sheet from your teacher.

Remember to study for tomorrow’s vocabulary test.

Today we had a chance to look at library books for information on our research topics. For your research paper, you need to have quotes from at least three different sources, and they can include any of the following:

  • A library book
  • A World Book Encyclopedia
  • Wikipedia
  • Another website on the Internet

Remember that you must cite your source. That means you’ll need important information about where you got your quotations. You’ll find a handout in the Thursday box that helps you gather relevant information to help you cite a library book or Internet website.

If you were gone today, you need to make up “Team Vocabulary Test 7” on Study Island. You must take this test at school with your teacher, so please set an appointment to come in at lunch or after school to do so.
