Monday, Feb. 3

Today we were given our graded Wikipedia research pages. The highlighted words on this page will be your next spelling/vocabulary assignment. On Wednesday, when we have a guest teacher, you’ll have to look up definitions for each of these words and record the parts of speech for each one too (like noun, verb, adjective, etc.).  If you were absent today, your teacher put your Wikipedia handout/vocabulary list in your file folder.

Please copy this week’s assignments into your agenda. Also look on the back of the “Citing a Book or Website” handout. Please fill out this graphic organizer to help you plan ahead for your research paper.

Tuesday, Feb. 4

It’s possible that your teacher took grades on the D.O.L. today. Please ask her if she did. If so, you need to get a D.O.L. make-up sheet from your teacher.

Today we began creating our outlines. We were given a handout that you can find in the Tuesday box. It shows you a sample outline on a research paper topic.

Today everyone used a dictionary to define his/her assigned vocabulary list. Remember: the highlighted words on your Wikipedia handout page will be your next spelling/vocabulary assignment. If you were gone today, you have to look up definitions for each of these words and record the parts of speech for each one too (like noun, verb, adjective, etc.).  On Monday, your teacher had you put your Wikipedia handout/vocabulary list in your file folder. You may need to come in at lunch or after school (by appointment) to make up the vocabulary definitions we did today.
