Any time you’ve been gone, you need to ask your teacher if she took grades on the D.O.L. assignments. If so, go get a D.O.L. make-up sheet from the make-up work center, take it home, follow the directions, and turn it in.

Monday, March 3: Please take the time to write assignments in your agenda. Now that speeches have begun, your teacher is asking everyone to fill out a journal response on their classmates’ speeches. We will share these with our classmates when speeches are over, so be polite with your choice of words in the journal. On the board, you’ll see a sample journal entry. Make your journal entry like this one, for each and every speaker. If you were absent, write the date of your absence in your journal, as you see on the example.

Tuesday, March 4: We continued giving speeches today. Since you were absent today, you’ll need to make note of this in your speech journal. Take a look at the example on the bottom of the sample speech journal that’s on the board.

Wednesday, March 5: We continued giving speeches today. Since you were absent today, you’ll need to make note of this in your speech journal. Take a look at the example on the bottom of the sample speech journal that’s on the board.

Thursday, March 6: For some classes, this was the last day of speeches. The research paper speech is your final exam grade for third quarter, so it’s not an option to just bow out. You MUST give a speech. Therefore, if you haven’t given your speech yet, but your class is done giving speeches, you must remind your teacher that you still need to give your speech for your final exam grade. Since you were absent today, you’ll need to make note of this in your speech journal.

Friday, March 7:  For some classes, this was the last day of speeches. The research paper speech is your final exam grade for third quarter, so it’s not an option to just bow out. You MUST give a speech. Therefore, if you haven’t given your speech yet, but your class is done giving speeches, you must remind your language arts teacher that you still need to give your speech for your final exam grade. DON’T LET HER FORGET!
