Parent Teacher ConferencesDAILY LANGUAGE REVIEW: Ask your teacher if she took grades on the DLR and find out from a classmate which one(s) you missed. If you were absent when your teacher took grades on the DLR, find a copy of the one you missed in the make-up work center. Take it home and edit and/or revise it as needed. Before you turn it in to the teacher, please draw a box around the one you missed with a highlighter pen, and tell your teacher “I still need a grade for this.” (Otherwise it may get lost in the stacks of other DLR assignments.)

DAILY CLASSROOM ACTIVITIES:

Monday, Oct. 19: Today we were given a new vocabulary list. The teacher allowed us time in class to define these vocabulary words. They’ll need to be used in your next term paper, so please take the time to define and/or search for ways to use these words in sentences. (Sometimes it’s more helpful to copy down examples of these words used in sentences.) Extra copies of these words can be found on the “Vocabulary Lists” page, but you can also find extra copies in the Make-up Work Center at the back of the classroom.

Tuesday, Oct. 20: Today we gave a six-traits score to our Titanic essays.  If you were absent for this, please review the six traits by looking them over on EnglishEmporium.WordPress.com or re-reading them in the English Handbook Pages.

Wednesday, Oct. 21: Today we went over the protocol for parent/teacher conference night. This will be a student-led conference. When you come to the classroom, politely introduce your parent to your teacher. Then retrieve your writing folder from a box labeled with your class hour. Your teacher will give your parent a questionnaire. Fill out the questionnaire completely and turn it in to your teacher (along with your file folder) for extra credit before you go.

Thursday, Oct. 22: Again today we went over the protocol for parent/teacher conference night. This will be a student-led conference.
