DAILY JOURNAL ASSIGNMENTS:

Monday, Nov. 30: For today’s journal assignment, please skip a full page in the Dances With Wolves Notes. (We’ll finish these later, when our term papers are done.) Then copy the first item in the “Addenda” page at the back of the English Handbook Pages, like this:

VII. Citation

A. Parenthetical Citation

1. (Copy the first item in the English Handbook Pages’ “Addenda” under “Parenthetical Citation.”)

Tuesday, Dec. 1 – Wednesday, Dec. 2: On these days, we met in the computer lab to type our final drafts of the term paper. No journal was required.

Thursday, Dec. 3: Copy “A Few Tips and Pointers” (all three bullets) on the back of the “Addenda” at the back of the English Handbook Pages. It should look like this:

B. Tips and Pointers

  • The Works Cited page goes at the very end of your report.
  • Put each entry in alphabetical order, so if you have one entry that starts with the name “Annan” and another entry that starts with the name “Kofi,” the “Annan” entry will come first.
  • Don’t forget to check the titles rules to decide whether your titles need italics or quotation marks.

DAILY CLASSROOM ACTIVITIES:

Monday, Nov. 30: Today we participated in the rotational edits of our Red Badge term papers. If you were gone for this, your paper most likely got edited anyway. However, you might want to review the editing process, which is found on this page. That way you’re getting the same lesson we got today.

Tuesday, Dec. 1 – Wednesday, Dec. 2: On these days, we met in the computer lab to type our final drafts of the Red Badge term papers. If you were absent, we’ll be in the computer lab on Thursday too, but we’re doing a Wikipedia article handout on Audie Murphy that day. (You could do that on your own as make-up work though.) I’d spend that time typing my essay. If you need one more day to finish typing, plan to come in for Friday School.

Thursday, Dec. 3: Today we turned in our Red Badge term papers. Please highlight your quotes in one color (including parenthetical citation); highlight your vocabulary words in a second color. Fill out your six traits form with the following:

  • Writing Process/Citation
  • Vocab
  • Facts/Info

We also worked on a Wikipedia handout. For this particular handout, please fill out all the information available on Audie Murphy, on Wikipedia. Fill all the lines on the worksheet. (Extra copies of the worksheet are found in Box 11, in the make-up work center.)
